According to the Happy Planet Index Jamaica ranks #3 for the world’s happiest nation for 2009. At Tensing Pen we like to keep our staff as happy as they keep our guests! This year for a special treat we took our staff to Glistening Waters on the north coast, near Falmouth, on two separate evenings so that everyone got the chance to experience Mother Nature showing off. As you can see from the photos, our staff contributes to this happy nation.

What’s New?

As it turns out Sugar, our ridgeback seems to have been faking her pregnancy. Better luck next time Sugar!

Each and every Tuesday evening a short walk down the road will take you to Negril Escape and their new One Love conscious reggae show. A lovely evening starting (on time) at 8pm and ending at the convenient hour of midnight.

You can find unique island creations at our gift shop.

Niney is still our oldest employee and gardener exceptional.

The green flash still happens at sunset and in December we had super green flashes three evenings in a row! How many have you seen?

Is Tensing Pen a travellers’ home away from home? Gosh no, far from it! Here, you are pampered and spoiled by our excellent staff from the moment you enter this lush, tropical paradise. Are you going to take out garbage or make your bed? Hahaha. You will be snorkeling in turquoise waters, letting the Caribbean Sea soothe your soul, while we prepare you a healthy, yet sumptuous breakfast.

While you lounge in a thatch-shaded comfortable hammock, putting a dent into your favourite author, we are shopping for the freshest vegetables, fish and fruit; we are cleaning your cottage; cooking to your liking; and taking care of your every need.

What’s New?

This Blog, ‘Tensing Pen Cliffside Notes’ is new, and your participation is encouraged.
We have had an exciting rework of our menus by Virginia Burke, Author of Eat Caribbean. Dinner reservations are open to the public, so come on in and experience a taste sensation!
Tensing, our male Ridgeback has finally impregnated our female, Sugar. A beautiful pack of pups are expected in December.
Our manager, Courtney, has moved on and we will soon announce our new manager.

Hi there, I just wanted to fill you in on a few activities that we offer here at the Tensing Pen Resort located in Negril, Jamaica. Come take part in our guided tours from the Mayfield Falls, the River Walk, Appleton Rum Tour, Black River Safari and more. We also offer many biking options for all levels of experience through Rusty’s X-cellent Adventures.

You can’t leave without going snorkeling in the Tensing Pen Reef, Sand Key or Middle Should! Feel like going Scuba Diving? Tensing Pen can help you get setup with three different PADI Certified Scuba Centers. For those that love heights and long to feel the warm Caribbean breezes we have parasailing, there is no better way to view the beautiful beaches of Jamaica than high above the water!
